Come and join us in BAE Systems Air!

We have a long and proud heritage in developing, manufacturing, upgrading, and supporting world-leading combat and fast jet trainer aircraft. Operating globally, we support our customers throughout the air sector lifecycle—from design, development, and production to aircraft provision, training, support, and maintenance.

Why BAE Systems?

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, especially those underrepresented in our industry, including women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

What you will be doing

As a Graduate, you will work collaboratively to create cutting-edge software for our platforms, involved in the product lifecycle from concept, design, and development to delivery and in-service maintenance. You will collaborate closely with engineers from multiple skill sets including systems design, test, modeling, and qualification/certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to addressing engineering issues encompassing requirements capture/evaluation, system and software design, software implementation, unit and integration testing, qualification and certification, as well as defect investigation and resolution.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills working within a large complex team, delivering software solutions for highly complex, real-time systems and software platforms.
  • Articulate a strong understanding of multiple software development lifecycles and toolsets, especially in safety-critical environments.

Skills

As a minimum requirement, you'll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Development, Electronic Engineering, or a related subject.

Opportunities for Growth and Development

We encourage employees to explore projects beyond their primary responsibilities, providing them with diverse experiences. With a wide range of products and a multinational presence, there are ample opportunities for employees to engage in various projects and initiatives.

Community Involvement

BAE Systems values community engagement. Employees are encouraged to participate in community projects, STEM initiatives, and employee resource groups, offering valuable learning experiences outside their regular roles.

Retention and Career Development

Recognizing the importance of retaining talented individuals, we offer sponsorship, career development support, and high-potential development programs. These initiatives aim to help employees plan their careers effectively and provide opportunities for accelerated development for those demonstrating aspiration, ability, and performance.

Benefits

You will receive several benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance, and a company-contributed Share Incentive Plan. You will also have access to additional benefits like flexible working, an employee assistance programme, Cycle2work, and employee discounts. You may also be eligible for an annual incentive.

Upon employment commencement, you will receive a one-off non-consolidated lump sum payment of £2,000 (the “Welcome Payment”). This payment aims to ease your transition, whether it's for relocation costs, securing housing, or other needs, helping kick-start your career at BAE Systems.

Inclusivity in our Recruitment Process

We aim to make our recruitment processes as inclusive as possible. If you have a disability or health condition (e.g., dyslexia, autism, anxiety disorder, etc.) that may affect your performance in assessments, please discuss potential reasonable adjustments with your recruiter.

Our Environmental Responsibility

As a future-focused business, we are committed to changing the world we live in for the better, targeting net-zero emissions by 2030. We innovate new ways to develop on-site renewable electricity and set ambitious targets for water consumption and waste generation.

Export Control/Security

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to security and export control restrictions. These may include factors such as your nationality, nationalities previously held, and place of birth, restricting the roles you can perform within the organisation. All applicants must achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard, with many roles requiring higher National Security Vetting levels, involving 5 to 10 years of continuous UK residency for meaningful vetting checks.
