Job Title: Industrial Placement Submarines Electrical Power Engineer

What You Will Be Doing

As an Electrical Power Engineering Industrial Placement candidate, you will join an exciting team who work throughout the whole submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet across our current, new, and future classes of submarine like Astute, Dreadnought & SSN-AUKUS.

Duties and Responsibilities

You could be involved in designing, developing and modelling complex systems, components and products, as well as supporting build, test, commissioning, and in service operation, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Power System Architecture; Protection and Co-ordination; Earth Fault Monitoring; Modelling (Simulation and Analysis) and Operation
  • Power Equipment (active, generation, passive)
  • Power Generation and Distribution – both AC & DC
  • Energy Storage
  • Power Electronics

Skills Required

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. To be considered for this role, you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
