Senior Project Engineer

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the technical engineering aspects of product and process development for new products and the evolution of legacy products within Small Arms Ammunition
  • Ensuring that safety remains the highest priority in the products and processes that are developed and in the work that is conducted by the SAA development team
  • Leading the SAA product development team to deliver the relevant programmes while providing line management, direction, support and development to team members
  • Application of effective Engineering Governance throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Supporting the wider strategic aims of the business through proactive contribution to the development of product strategies, capability plans, improvement plans and other Engineering wide initiatives
  • Working with project managers and capability leads to establish appropriate teams with the required resources and skillsets to deliver projects

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification and/or HNC/HND supported by complementary experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven track record of leading and managing Engineering teams and projects on complex development projects
  • A good understanding of the development and industrialisation of products and processes in the Engineering industry, and system design
  • A good understanding of trials, tests and evaluation of products and/or processes

Desirable:

  • Safety Management – IOSH Managing Safety/NEBOSH Certificate
  • Experience and knowledge in manufacturing in a high hazard or high-volume environment
  • Experience of Small Arms Ammunition products and associated manufacturing process

The Engineering Development team:

The Engineering Development team, work with cutting-edge technology to developing new technology for the Armed Forces. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical aspects of the respective programmes, for both new product development and evolution of legacy products. You will lead and manage a team of engineers to develop SAA products and ensure the integrity and acceptance of the relevant design solution throughout the product lifecycle; from concept through development, evaluation and qualification to production.
