We are on the lookout for a lab automation expert to support our integrated automation platform. The automation team supports the early discovery and protein engineering teams to expedite processing of large numbers of samples. These include high throughput DNA preparation, antibody production, and antibody purifications. As such, the team is a key contributor to the discovery of groundbreaking medicines to treat cancer.

Key Responsibilities

The lab automation engineer will be a key member of the automation team and the primary point of contact for operating automated liquid handling systems and support their optimization. Your main tasks and responsibilities will be the following:
  • Run samples for the automation procedures while ensuring best laboratory practices
  • Record experimental entries and data in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)
  • Develop and improve methods and scripts in liquid handlers
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment (liquid handlers, robotics)
  • Provide training and guidance to users regarding automation protocol execution

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The successful Lab automation engineer will have the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Expertise in molecular biology and protein production
  • At least 2 years of work experience
  • Basic knowledge of scripting
  • Experience with lab automation equipment (Tecan, Hamilton, Agilent)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have a pro-active approach and high sense of accuracy and quality
  • A team-oriented attitude and ability to work independently
  • You are able to report and discuss experimental design and data in an organized manner
