R&D Programme Coordination Engineer

Join our Galileo and EGNOS Evolution Division within the Galileo and EGNOS Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation. We're looking for a dedicated R&D Programme Coordination Engineer to help us innovate and implement a portfolio of EU-funded GNSS R&D activities under the guidance of the Head of the Galileo and EGNOS Evolution Division.

Duties

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the head of the Division in coordinating cross-cutting programme management actions such as reporting and communication.
  • Connecting the Galileo and EGNOS programmes from an R&D perspective by coordinating R&D items related to services potentially implemented within the Galileo or EGNOS infrastructure, or both (e.g., ARAIM, authentication, integrity for high accuracy), in cooperation with the Galileo and EGNOS teams.
  • Coordinating and implementing a portfolio of EU-funded GNSS R&D. This includes:
    • Helping devise the roadmap in coordination with Galileo and EGNOS Evolution teams, Directorate of Navigation, and relevant interfaces in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering, and Quality.
    • Proposing and formulating R&D activities for work plans approved by the European Commission.
    • Running industrial activities as a Technical Officer involving procurement preparation, activity follow-up, reporting, and resource and schedule management.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience in Satellite and Radio navigation principles, systems, and related technologies.
  • Experience in preparing procurement activities for technology development and innovation (e.g., Statements of Work, proposal evaluation).
  • Experience with industrial procurement and development, verification processes, and conducting reviews.
  • Knowledge of the space-related industrial landscape and ability to define technology development roadmaps identifying future technology trends.

Education

A master's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required.

Additional Requirements

Programme management experience would be considered an asset.

Recruitment will generally be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if a candidate has fewer than four years of relevant professional experience post-master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
