Your contribution to TenneT

You will support our 2GW HVDC grid expansion program with your technical expertise. In different regions in the Netherlands multiple 2GW grid connection systems will be build, together with our consortia.

Your main tasks are:

  • the coordination (overview, reviewing) of all technical topics of secondary technology (focus: AC and DC Protection Systems) within offshore grid connection projects. From project start to handover to operation
  • coordinating all protection-related issues within offshore grid connection projects as well as cross-project processing of AC and DC protection issues in the high-voltage and extra-high-voltage sector
  • to provide technical support in contract negotiations, basic design and detailed design as well as the execution of factory and on-site acceptance tests and commissioning
  • coordination of the technical interfaces to other technical disciplines such as operational grid management and offshore wind farms
  • monitoring and controlling functional tests/inspections and the implementation and quality control during the construction and installation phase in accordance with the applicable framework conditions and guidelines (including standards, specifications, etc.)
  • supporting the project managers responsible for construction in managing the subcontractors with regard to technical issues and organization
  • checking the technical documentation and comparing it with the underlying specifications

Your profile and background

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English!
  • Good interpersonal and team skills
  • You have a high degree of independence, initiative and assertiveness
  • Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments according to the AWMF standard
  • Confident handling of MS Office, a high degree of mobility and willingness to travel as well as a class B driver's license round off your profile
  • You have practical experience in dealing with standard protection relays and good knowledge of switchgear, power supply networks and relevant standards and guidelines
  • You have already gained professional experience in the creation of protection concepts, in the design and testing of protection systems for power transmission grids and in the construction of electrical systems

This will be our challenge

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.
