Senior Manager of Tax Data & Technology Strategy (DTS) Role

The Senior Manager of Tax Data & Technology Strategy (DTS) will play a key role in shaping and executing the tax department's Data & Technology Strategy. You will oversee a portfolio of complex Tax Technology projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance tax data management, implement innovative technology solutions, and optimize tax processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in tax technology, tax processes, data analytics, tax transformation projects, and an understanding of the available tax technology solutions on the market. You will have a broad understanding of tax law across Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, Corporate taxes, and other impacting taxes like hotel occupancy tax or tourist taxes. You will have expertise in end-to-end process reviews and understand how to apply a risk-based approach to analyze tax processes and implement tax technology solutions integrating complex business initiatives and ever-changing new tax regulations that impact businesses like ours.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current tax processes (within SAP, Avalara & other FinTech systems) to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Drive the delivery of the Tax Transformation program and other key tax technology projects.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that leverage technology and data analytics.
  • Support business growth by encouraging your team(s) to have a deep focus and understanding of the business needs, and develop and validate innovative (tax technology) solutions.
  • Work closely with the Director of Tax Data and Technology Strategy to align on strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and compliance, to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
  • Communicate complex tax data and technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support with setting the Tax strategy and priorities for the tax department.
  • Collaborate closely with management and leadership of other departments to ensure alignment in strategy and implementation on various business and product matters.
  • Challenge, clarify, think out of the box where needed, and act decisively.
  • Keep in mind the details, but focus on the bigger and more complex picture.
  • Own the professional development of the Tax department, actively upskilling everyone to deal with an increasingly complex, data-driven environment.
  • Due to the rapid changes in the organization, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Master's degree (in Accounting, Finance/Tax Economics/Law or similar degree)
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience for Senior Manager and 7 - 10 for Manager gained within a big 4 and/or international environment and in-house experience within the e-commerce industry
  • Knowledge of SAP, SAC, Vertex, Avalara, etc.
  • Good knowledge of digital economy/e-commerce challenges and taxes
  • Knowledge of International tax regulations
  • Experience with both mature and developing jurisdictions
  • Project management expertise, including strong organizational and change management skills
  • Excellent management and communication skills in English
  • Innovative and creative thinker
  • Self-starter, flexible, energetic, passionate, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Excellent corporate agility to collaborate and build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to drive change and adapt quickly in an agile environment
