About VivÈrdie

At VivÈrdie Industries, we are pioneering the future of sustainable materials. Our mission is to revolutionize textile development by creating cradle-to-cradle fabrics that are as accessible and versatile as traditional cotton. We specialize in transforming textile waste into Vifour—an innovative material boasting a 95% recycling rate and infinite recyclability, achieved through a harmonious blend of natural and synthetic fibers.

Our cutting-edge processes have enabled us to recycle materials through 150 closed-loop cycles, maintaining aesthetic integrity and material performance. With a palette derived directly from the authentic hues of recycled sources, Vifour offers 80% color accuracy, over five varying thicknesses, and more than ten distinct structures, providing designers and creators an expansive spectrum of possibilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate Environmental Science Intern to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing and enhancing the environmental impact of our material production and recycling processes. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable innovation within the textile industry.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will conduct comprehensive life cycle assessments (LCA) of our Vifour production and recycling processes, analyzing each stage from raw material acquisition to end-of-life disposal. You will propose strategies to minimize our environmental footprint, focusing on reducing energy consumption, water usage, and waste generation. Collaborating with our R&D team, you will work on improving the sustainability of binding agents and exploring alternative natural compounds. Your role will involve gathering data on resource utilization and emissions, preparing detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring that all processes meet environmental regulations and sustainability certifications, such as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will also stay abreast of the latest advancements in environmental science and sustainable materials, integrating relevant findings into our operations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing or has recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Materials, or a related field. Proficiency in life cycle assessment software like SimaPro or GaBi is essential. A solid understanding of material science, particularly in natural and synthetic fibers, and familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability standards are required. You should have strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are necessary. We are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability and innovation, detail-oriented, and has strong organizational skills. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment is important. A minimum commitment of 12 weeks is required, with flexibility for longer engagements.

What We Offer

We provide hands-on experience where you will engage directly with pioneering sustainable material development projects. This is an opportunity to translate academic knowledge into real-world applications, enhancing your expertise in environmental sustainability within the textile industry. We offer a flexible work environment with the option to work partially remotely, accommodating both full-time and part-time arrangements. High-performing interns may be considered for full-time positions upon completion of the internship.

Application Process

To apply, please submit your resume or CV detailing your educational background, technical skills, and any relevant experience. Include a cover letter explaining your interest in the internship and how your skills align with the responsibilities. An academic transcript is optional but preferred. If available, provide a portfolio or work samples showcasing any previous projects related to environmental analysis or sustainable materials. Submit your application by 1 november 2024, 02:00.
