Senior project buyer EPC

The company is a major player in the development and supply of complete water treatment plants. These are designed to customer specifications and delivered turn-key. It supplies both industrial customers and governments worldwide. Projects have a value of up to approx. €100 mio. The company has 400 employees in the Netherlands, and about 2,000 worldwide. The company is part of a French parent with a total of 12,000 employees. Main office is in Achterhoek with branch offices in Raalte, Heerenveen and Amsterdam.

Projects

The projects you will be assigned to have a value from approx. €30 mio. and start with an offer to the client based on a feasibility study with budget prices. If a client wishes to proceed on this basis, successive design/engineering phases will be reimbursed, but the client can decide to stop the project at any time until construction starts. During these engineering/design phases, the level of detailing becomes finer and finer. Budgeting is based on quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.

Project procurement involves the selection of suppliers for tanks and process equipment (instrumentation, cabling, piping, etc.) and subcontractors for building construction and installation work.

In the tender and design phases, you first determine what materials and services are needed, look at developments in the market and then determine the procurement strategy, which you concretize in a project procurement plan. In that plan, risk management is an important aspect.

If the contract is awarded then you draft, negotiate and close agreements.

In the construction phase, you are escalation channel, provide contract management, deal with more/less work, etc. This is a smaller part of your job.

You will work closely with sales, project management, engineering during the tender and design phases. Your input is crucial in the execution of the projects.

Your Profile

• HBO work/thought level
• Extensive experience with complete procurement of turn-key projects, e.g. at electric/water companies, in renewables, at an installation company or in construction
• Knowledge of FIDIC, UAV contract requirements is a plus
• Good command of English; Dutch is a plus

Offer

• Gross salary of max. €8,000/month, depending on your knowledge and experience
• In principle, there is no bonus
• 27 + 7 leave days
• Good arrangement w/w traffic (one is considering a lease car arrangement)
• PME pension plan.
• You will work partly at home, partly in the office and partly at project sites. The ratio between them is up to you.
