Editorial Section Manager (Part Time 2 days per week)

In support of our portfolio of 2700+ hybrid and open access scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.

About the Role

We are seeking an Editorial Section Manager for Heliyon, an all-science, open-access journal by Cell Press. This role is ideal for university graduates starting a career in scientific publishing. Reporting to a Deputy Editorial Team Leader, you'll work in our editorial support teams in the UK/China/India, or Spain.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding manuscripts through an online database from initial submission to final editorial decision.
  • Performing technical and administrative checks on manuscripts for compliance with the journal’s standard.
  • Monitoring the peer review process with a goal of obtaining timely feedback from editors and reviewers.
  • Managing a high volume of internal and external e-mail correspondence.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to authors, reviewers, and both internal and external team members.

Requirements

  • Have a degree (or equivalent) in the life, medical, social, or physical sciences. Medical and life background preferred.
  • Possess an enthusiastic attitude, great analytical skill, and the ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Be able to adapt to change, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and prioritize individually.
  • Have great interpersonal skills within an international team.
  • Be able to work equally well collaboratively or individually without continuous supervision in an ever-changing environment.
