Responsibilities

  • Oversee the CDO Group Data Management Standards (GDMS) transformation agenda, including automation and process improvements to the way the bank governs and reports data risk.
  • Coordinate the execution of GDMS transformation activity, working with standards owners.
  • Set-up and manage change delivery working groups and committees.
  • Management of group-wide GDMS processes, including group records management.
  • Contributing to the design of an enhanced GDMS data control, including data quality, records management, and ownership.
  • Tracking and reporting progress towards delivering CDO business outcomes and key results, e.g., to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Management of a team of specialist governance practitioners.

Purpose of the Role

To develop, implement, and maintain effective governance frameworks for all data and records across the bank's global operations.

Accountabilities

  • Development and maintenance of a comprehensive data and records governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitoring data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
  • Identification and addressing of data and records management risks and gaps.
  • Development and implementation of a records management program that ensures the proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval, and disposal of records.
  • Development and implementation of a data governance strategy that aligns with the bank's overall data management strategy and business objectives.
  • Provision of Group-wide guidance and training on Data and Records Management standard requirements.

Director Expectations

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate, and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalate breaches of policies/procedures appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, including regulators or advocacy groups, to monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/Group to achieve overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments/initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as the principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
