The Role

At Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen, we have two Project Estimators who create estimates for various shipyards in the Damen Shiprepair & Conversion group (DS&C). These estimators receive their daily assignments from the Commercial Manager and work alongside Sales Managers to ensure proper quotations are sent to clients. Projects range from small to large; smaller projects are handled independently by Project Estimators, while larger, more complex projects involve becoming part of the ‘tender team.’

Key Accountabilities

• Independently preparing estimates based on your own work, subcontractors, or a combination for potential assignments.
• Preparing cost price calculations for all types of ships, ranging from minor repairs to full conversions based on customer requirements.
• Collaborating with various project-related departments (Sales Managers, Procurement, Cost Engineers, Project Managers) to share/obtain necessary information between/from departments.
• Working with tender teams for large projects to develop a complete proposal.
• Conducting inspections on-site of the object to be repaired/converted.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor (MBO+/HBO) level of thinking & working.
• Background in Naval Architecture, Maritime Officer, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable (technical) study and/or experience in these areas.
• Knowledge of ship construction and repair techniques.
• Knowledge of/experience with the estimation/sales process.
• Analytical skills and a flexible attitude.
• Verbal and written proficiency in English, with a preference for some Dutch knowledge.
