The Role

For this interim role, Damen Naval is looking for a System Modelling Specialist - Naval Shipbuilding to join on a temporary basis for a period of 6 months. You will be pivotal in creating comprehensive system models for complex naval vessels, describing functional behavior and establishing traceability from concepts of operation to technical solutions. You will guide project teams, utilizing system architecture frameworks for seamless integration from enterprise to system level.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of a model-based system architecture for functional safety assessments and assisting in requirements engineering, encompassing traceability, analysis, decomposition, verification, and validation (V&V).

Key Accountabilities

• Defining and updating system modelling processes.
• Evaluating and selecting suitable technologies and frameworks.
• Conducting comprehensive system analysis for technical specifications and architectural designs.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to define system components and integration points.
• Performing formal safety assessments and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to development teams.
• Enhancing system architecture practices within the company.
• Communicating effectively with architects, engineers, and clients.

Skills & Experience

As a System Modelling Specialist - Naval Shipbuilding, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, preferably in shipbuilding.
• Experience in Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) and requirements engineering.
• Proficiency in advanced system modelling techniques, including SysML.
• Strong problem-solving skills with complex systems and technical challenges.
• Exceptional communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Key competencies include teamwork, conscientiousness, proactiveness, and planning focus.

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch and German is advantageous.
