As an Area Sales Manager within the Livestock, Poultry & Dairy (LPD) business at IDEXX, you will be responsible for the sales of our lines of products in the UK and Ireland.

IDEXX LPD is growing rapidly with its portfolio, and this is an exciting role and time to join our team! Your key contacts will be milk recording organizations, industry stakeholders, veterinarians, and dairy farmers. You will be responsible for increasing the business with existing accounts and industry partners along with the development of new opportunities and accounts.

You Will:

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals within an expense budget.
  • Work with accounts to drive demand of dairy farmers by developing and supporting co-promotional activities.
  • Train the field force of milk recording organizations (field agents, team leads, and milk collectors).
  • Leverage industry channels to maximize sales and customer service franchise objectives.
  • Analyze the characteristics and trends of the local market and help define customer needs for new or modified products and services.
  • Execute sales strategy, identify new opportunities/leads, and generate sales reports.
  • Work closely together with marketing field specialists and technical service to grow the market.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • High comfort with both outbound and inbound sales activity, combining account strategy with attention to detail.
  • Strong communications skills including writing, listening, and questioning.
  • Strong business acumen
  • An ability to speak and start relationships with C-level executives.
Previous successful sales experience.
  • Sales ability/Persuasiveness/Negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to establish and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Capability to absorb and articulate technical information.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills, especially in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Effective time management skills to ensure desired business outcomes.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • A background in veterinary, dairy farming, or a degree in any life sciences field would be a plus.
  • Fluency in business English required.
