At Picnic, we’re designing an affordable, hassle-free grocery service for the many. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of ordering groceries online. Spend less time on errands and more time on what truly matters. To offer this user-friendly proposition we are revolutionizing the logistical backbone of our service. A data-driven and hyper-efficient way of distributing goods enables us to cut down on food waste and energy usage in substantial ways. If you’re a passionate UX Designer, we’re offering you the opportunity to join the diverse team at our Amsterdam HQ and make a real difference in a fast-scaling environment.

🥜 In a nutshell

Within the consumer domain we shape all shopping interactions within our mobile app used by hundreds of thousands on a daily basis. We design features in collaboration with our users that truly fit their everyday needs. This is especially interesting for grocery shopping since our customers make large amounts of very personal buying decisions, every week again. Taking care of themselves and their loved ones by ensuring a stocked up fridge and cooking a healthy variety of meals.

Next to being part of specific product teams, we also form a company-wide UX guild. UX at Picnic covers many topics: from enterprise products and automated warehouses, to e-commerce platforms and even physical products like a custom-built electric vehicle. As a distributed group of UX designers and thinkers, we come together to align and ensure an unprecedented customer experience in e-commerce. Next to that, it is also just a lot of fun to connect with UX peeps regularly ;)

🎯 What you’ll do

Your goal is to make in-app grocery shopping an effortless and rewarding journey. You will research user habits, identify opportunities and develop prototypes for new promising features. Supported by our UX research team you will evaluate your work with real customers in a weekly cycle!

Every project you will:

  • Have the autonomy to own the design of new features from beginning to end. Everything you do matters and will be developed and tested at a fast pace.
  • Sharpen project briefs based on explorative research together with UX researchers and product owners.
  • Build low and high fidelity prototypes to be tested and evaluated on a weekly basis with real users.
  • Document the final design requirements on interaction and UI level to brief and support developers during the development phase.
  • Learn and grow through the continuous feedback and mentoring by seasoned UX designers and researchers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of our design libraries and system.
  • Continuously explore new ideas in order to initiate new projects and improvements, design is never done ;).
