Our UK Mission

Join the recently created TRACTEBEL entity in the UK, with ambitious goals and exceptional projects. Our mission is to establish TRACTEBEL as a key player in the nuclear business in the UK. TRACTEBEL is pivotal in the detailed design and reinforcement detailing of the reinforced concrete structures of the Nuclear Island at Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC), some of the world’s largest construction projects. Additionally, we have a pipeline of other projects in the nuclear industry to sustain our growth in 2024 and 2025.

You will be a part of a dynamic, highly motivated, and multicultural team, making this position a great opportunity for you to develop professionally and personally while working on globally recognized projects.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to work on the design of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear power plants, as well as our future pipeline of projects. You will apply your civil expertise to successfully deliver our projects in collaboration with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and our project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership and team management to deliver work packages effectively.
  • Coordinating and communicating on complex engineering problems between project stakeholders.
  • Providing technical review and responding to site queries and requested changes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to support contractor activities on HPC site.
  • Conducting and reviewing analysis of structures carried out in FEM packages (experience in using Ansys beneficial).
  • Providing technical oversight of reinforcement detailers and reviewing detailing models and drawings.
  • Providing expert oversight and technical direction to teams completing the design of reinforced concrete structures.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the business development team during the tendering process for our future project stream.

Your Profile

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered with the ICE, IStructE, or with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in using Ansys or equivalent structural FEM software.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete calculation and design.
  • Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standard, and ETC-C the applicable code for HPC/SZC).
  • A proactive individual who can work collaboratively within a multicultural team.
  • Agile and self-motivated, with a focus on improving personal and team performance and able to generate innovative outcomes to challenges.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects and can demonstrate ability to deliver high-quality work packages to schedule.
  • Enjoys new challenges, keen to learn, and willing to take responsibility while supporting others within the team.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry based in the UK, e.g., nuclear.

The following experience is also beneficial:

  • Programming skills in one or several languages are a plus.
  • Experience in using Ansys or equivalent structural FEM software.
