Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for your assigned product group: machinery. The machinery group is responsible for purchasing the equipment and spare parts of all engines, engine room and hydraulic related products and cranes for both the Dredging and Offshore fleet. Additionally, you will advise project teams on the purchases of these product group. From day one, you will be involved in the entire procurement process, from the request for quotation to the receipt of parts or installations in the warehouse (or on a project site). In short, as a category buyer, you play a key role in ensuring the procurement process runs smoothly from A to Z.

Your responsibilities as a technical category buyer:

  • Based on the specifications of requests in our system, select which suppliers can competitively offer the requested products or services. This means that you request competitive quotations from the suppliers you have selected.
  • Evaluate the received quotations and present them to the internal and together decide on a supplier.
  • Place an order and handle the procurement order with the selected supplier.
  • Monitor the delivery process. This involves ensuring that the order is delivered according to the quotation and on time at the correct location. This could be at our distribution center or, for example, at a project site abroad.
  • Provide support in executing and developing the sourcing strategy and the source-to-contract process.

What you bring as a technical category buyer:

  • A completed MBO+/HBO education in a technical field is pre. Logistics, supply chain management or business administration plus technical experience could fit as well.
  • Several years of experience as an operational buyer, preferably in a technical environment.
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English.
  • Affinity with the maritime and offshore industry.
  • You take initiative and have strong communication skills.

  • Your team: The central procurement team at Boskalis consists of approximately 30 dedicated colleagues. Your subteam machinery exist of 4 colleagues. Additionally, there is significant interaction with the supply chain department and our warehouse in Vlaardingen.
