Offshore wind is growing fast. The Netherlands is leading the way, pledging 21 GW of offshore wind by the end of this decade. That’s 75 per cent of the current national electricity consumption.

Energy from North Sea wind farms will play a key role. Operators are advancing plans for next generation offshore grid systems supported by supersized 2-GW converter stations. Massive units that require our unique transport and installation capacity!

Our record-breaking heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit showcased her wind credentials in September, installing the entire 900-MW Kappa converter station for the DolWin6 offshore grid connection system in days. In the wake of the DolWin success, Pioneering Spirit is set to install a considerable number of converter stations in the coming years.

Which is where you come in!

We have exciting opportunities for pioneering Heavy Lift Engineers to help us meet the demand for our transport and installation services.

Your role

Playing an active role in the energy transition, you will be part of a multidisciplinary Agile team comprising creative Structural Engineers, Heavy Lift Engineers, Naval Architects and Draftsmen.

The team drives concept development and basic and detailed engineering phases for the installation of topsides and jacket structures up to 60,000 tonnes.

From design and engineering, fabrication of innovative lifting tools and supports, preparation of procedures and manuals through to on-site support during yard and offshore execution, you will be involved in the entire engineering process.

You:

  • Analyse and prepare project specifications for offshore transportation and installation operations, yard preparations, load-out and barge transfer and tow operations;
  • Prepare design calculations and design reports for all (structural) heavy lift design work within scope, budget and schedule;
  • Develop procedures and prepare manuals for load-out, transfer, mooring, tow, installation and transportation operations;
  • Interface with various disciplines (project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities, marine warranty surveyor) to define efficient and cost-effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support;
  • Come up with new solutions how Allseas can contribute to the energy transition in offshore wind;
  • Stay up to date with the development of specialised equipment for installation operations;
  • Perform FEED and feasibility studies to identify best solutions for single-lift installation or removal of large (> 5000 tonne) topsides and jackets;
  • Prepare method and execution statements for commercial bids for new projects;
  • Design lifting gear, such as spreader bars, rigging and pad eyes, internal/external lifting tools;
  • Perform platform inspections at fabrication yards to confirm platform condition and feasibility of proposed installation methodology;
  • Prepare factory acceptance and commissioning tests for project equipment.

What we expect from you

  • BSc degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering (or equivalent);
  • 3-6 yrs of relevant experience is preferred but not a prerequisite;
  • Affinity with the offshore renewables and/or marine environment is preferable;
  • Interest in developments in the renewable industry and energy transition;
  • Team player who is motivated to take on a technical challenge;
  • Self-starter with creative and analytical skills.
  • Willing to travel and work offshore;
  • Fluent English;

Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply to this vacancy.
