Software Scrum Master

Location:Portsmouth BroadOak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary:Up to £80,000 dependant on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and technical guidance/coaching for the Autonomy software team
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective
  • Identify and troubleshoot obstacles that are hindering the team’s progress
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback sessions and personally help solve particularly difficult technical problems
  • Work with functional stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements and communicate project status, risks and issues to stakeholders
  • Track KPIs and help teams deliver high-quality products/solutions on time
  • Ensure that the team follows the Scrum framework and adheres to Agile principles
  • Review technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems

Your skills and experiences:

  • Have previous experience as a Scrum Master
  • Have a Strong Knowledge of Agile Scrum Principles
  • Have previous experience of Atlassian Toolset (JIRA and Confluence)
  • Strong skills in C++, Python, Linux and Arduino desirable
  • Preferably have some certification in Agile Methodologies (e.g. Certified Scrum Master)
  • Preferably have experience of working in the defence sector

The Underwater Battlespace and Autonomy team:

This role is part of the broader Underwater Battlespace & Autonomy sector, providing opportunities for future mobility into other areas, such as Simulation and Training. In Maritime Services, this area is rapidly advancing and is expected to see substantial growth. These are not entirely new programs but rather expanding initiatives in their early phases. Autonomy in defence is a fascinating and strategically significant field for BAE Systems.
