Make your mark as a technical software developer at Boskalis. In this role, your focus is on developing solid software for systems that support the Boskalis fleet and the activities of our Dredging & Inland Infra, Offshore Energy and Salvage business units. A highlight of this role is that you immediately see the results of your work, as you’re closely connected with the application(s) of your software solutions.

You play a crucial role in improving the efficiency and capabilities of the Boskalis fleet. You create software to visualize the installation of wind turbine foundations with a heavy lift vessel, completely automate and control a dredger, or use software to track the efficiency of our equipment. The main operating system we use is Linux and our current main programming language is C++.

Your responsibilities as a technical software developer

  • Based on project demands, you look at needs for software solutions to-be-developed.
  • Assessment & analysis of the required functionalities and designing, building, testing and documenting the software.
  • Depending on requirements, it’s not always necessary to completely build something from scratch. In those cases you can configure or adapt existing software for a specific vessel or asset.
  • After the software solution is ready for use, you’re responsible for commissioning, testing and verifying the systems operation, which is sometimes done on- site.
  • Although our software & systems are mostly low-maintenance, our team needs to provide support and assist our internal customers with questions or problems after implementation.

If you’re interested in additional topics and willing to learn, you can also play a role in:

  • Developing mobile-friendly solutions.
  • Developing web-based applications for data visualization and processing.
  • Securely connecting OT systems to the Internet.

Your qualities

To make your mark as a technical software developer, you have:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or another relevant. technical education, such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in building technical software solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux and C++ .
  • Knowledge of control systems or visualization in OpenGL is a plus.
  • Communication skills (written & verbal) in English (Dutch is a big plus).
