About EMEA Operations
EMEA Operations provides support to the International Private Banks based in the key Wealth locations of Switzerland (Geneva & Zurich) and Monaco. Supporting more than 100 Bankers in over 10 countries servicing around 9,000 clients with GBP 18.5 billion assets under management.

EMEA Operations provide service excellence to our Clients throughout the end to end Client lifecycle from CDD, account opening and maintenance through investment trade settlement and asset servicing, lending, exposure monitoring, payments processing, banking services, to account closures. EMEA Operations has a combined budget of £6 million and around 75 people split across Geneva and Monaco as well as oversight for activities performed by Barclays Shared Services in Glasgow and India.

EMEA Operations is seen as the leading European Centre of Excellence for Avaloq, and has been key in providing SME support for design, testing and training for Avaloq processes for the key strategic re-platforming projects in Jersey, UK and Monaco, whilst maintaining focus on servicing the Monaco platform.

Overall purpose of role

The purpose of the role is to support the Investment operation team in Securities area providing high standards of service quality in the processing and control of a range of investments products offered on the Monaco platform.

The role holder will have a ideally strong background in financial market transactions and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the following activities:

Voluntary Corporate Actions processing


Portfolio Transfers

Funds Processing

Custodian and Broker relationships

Off shore support and trainings

Regulatory Reporting (EMIR, MIFID,…)

In addition, the role holder will have to support the Head of Investment Operation to develop and implement new investment products to help the Front office and GI&S in the increase of products range improving client experience and allowing continuous growth of the Monaco platform. This will include creation and adjustment of procedures for critical activities.

For each of the above the role holder will be expected to build relationships with the local teams and interact effectively and professionally with the Front Office and all key stakeholders.

The role holder will also have to interact with Barclays Shared Services for outsourced activities ensuring smooth and relevant handling in line with internal agreement and responsibilities distribution. In addition the role holder will need to adhere and ensure for aligning processes and controls across the onshore and offshore platforms supporting the International Private Bank.

Finally the role holder will also have to participate and support change initiatives in focus to become a strong delegate to the head of the department but also a partner of the Front Office and Business Management including putting in place specific sessions to streamline, improve processes and ad-hoc daily controls fully complying with the Risk framework.

Key Accountabilities

Responsible of the above services matters ensuring the all activities are completed within SLA and to the high standards set-out within the Barclays Policies.

Responsible for the good processing of the tasks according to internal procedures, regulatory/law/tax requirements.

Processing improvements and reengineering: Participate in the improvement of the business process/Avaloq functionality.Identify weak processes in terms of effectiveness, increasing efficiency and reducing risk.Ensure proactive resourcing and support for “New Business” and Change initiatives

Attend team meetings and propose process improvements assisting the head of department in the implementation of the risk and controls framework

Team management support to the Head of Investment OPS.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

The successful candidate will be required to strongly support the head of Investment OPS to manage a wide range of Stakeholders across the business from Analysts through to Managing Directors. The role holder will need to maintain a professional approach and work in partnership with the Front Office to help them in maintaining strong client experience.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The successful candidate will be required to use its investigative skills to solve problems and make decisions in respect of.

The successful candidate will also need to be able to be proactive, pragmatic and propose solutions to help the front office to develop the Business and be part of the continuous grow of the Platform.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be fluent in English and will have ideally experience of working in a similar role.

The successful candidate will also need to be able to work as part of a team but be self-motivating to complete tasks individually. A positive outlook combined with strong professionalism will be key as will an eye for detail and an ability to think outside of the box.

The ability to drive process improvements and apply LEAN principles will also be a positive addition to any skill set.
