Your role with SNV

As our Global Social Media Intern, you are part of the Marketing, Communications, and Public Affairs (MCPA for the friends) team. Reporting to our Digital Marketing Officer, you will support our team in a variety of projects and tasks, mainly creating social media content, interacting with our community, and gaining insights from these interactions.

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to provide input, work on creative communication initiatives, plan and create content for our global channels, scout social media for the best user-generated content, and help the team develop the next big idea for effective communications initiatives.

Besides managing our content calendar, you will also engage with our social media community, responding to messages, and ensuring that our audience feels valued and heard. By interacting with our audiences, you will gain valuable insights into their thoughts and opinions, which you can then use to make decisions about the content you create.

We will also be looking to you to help us collect and analyse performance and behavioural data to help us drive improvements.

You will have your day-to-day tasks, but each day will bring new and exciting projects and the potential to learn and co-create with our team.

Key Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for you as the Social Media Intern will depend on the learning objectives that we will discuss with you at the beginning of the internship. However, they are likely to include the following:

  • Managing of our global social media content calendar.
  • Generating ideas for innovative social communication initiatives (incl. A/B testing) to build reach and engagement.
  • Participating in brainstorming for new content ideas.
  • Creating engaging content for LinkedIn, X, and YouTube (think posts, carousels, infographics, videos).
  • Daily monitoring of our digital space, responding to comments, messages, and queries on our social media channels.
  • Researching emerging trends in social and digital media content that our social channels can leverage.
  • Identifying stakeholders, partners, donors, beneficiaries, and colleagues who could be potential content contributors and/or SNV ambassadors.
  • Helping analyse content metrics to inform and report on initiatives.

Qualifications

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Social Media Intern with a digital-first attitude who brings the following:

  • A passion for learning about and making a difference in the international development sector.
  • Experience with social media and digital marketing tools such as Canva, Hootsuite, YouTube Studio, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Interest in storytelling, with a visual eye and experience in digital content creation, graphic design and/or videography/video editing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages and content to specific audiences.
  • A quality-focused and proactive approach to work, with project management skills, a focus on deadlines and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • A creative and innovative mindset and team player, enthusiastic about co-creating and co-building together, with high levels of self-motivation and resilience.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of French is an advantage.
  • To be considered for this role, you need to be registered and enrolled in an accredited Dutch University in a Bachelor or Master study in (Digital) Marketing, Communications, International Business, International Relations, Economics, or related fields.

Our offer to you

SNV offers a hands-on and dynamic internship experience with an enthusiastic team at our head office in the heart of The Hague. We also offer:

  • Internship agreement for 6-9 months
  • 32-40 hours a week (4-5 days)
  • Allowance of gross €500 euros per month (on the basis of 40 hours) and reimbursement of public transport costs
  • A flexible starting date, but we would rather have you tomorrow than 3 months from now
  • A truly international experience with colleagues from all over the world.
  • A diverse working environment with the opportunity to co-create, build and innovate, and a commitment to developing your skills.

At SNV, inclusivity is at the heart of our ethos. We celebrate the diversity of our workforce and uphold a policy of non-discrimination based on factors such as disability status, religion, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, and more.
