SQL Server Database Developer

As a Barclays SQL Server Database Developer, you will be responsible for providing engineering services, covering all aspects of the MS SQL Server Product, designing, developing and delivering engineering solutions for the bank. This is an exciting role, where you can be using a combination of technologies and products to assist in delivering a more resilient, robust, automated SQL platform for the banks current and future. What will you be doing?

You will define and drive the product strategy for the SQL Server

Adhering to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, as well as to bank’s governance and control procedures

Leading and defiing database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives

Acting as technical point of contact internally and externally for technical queries across the Bank regarding SQL Server

Being an effective, proactive team member, influencing the behaviour of colleagues internally and across Infrastructure Services

Delivering the process and documentation around all aspects of the SQL Server environment

What we’re looking for:

Expert knowledge of T-SQL development and SQL server (versions 2014, 2016, 2017,2019, 2022)

Expert development knowledge (C# PowerShell scripting; JSON/API interfaces)

Solid SDLC experience in DevOps and Agile Development principles

Skills that will help you in the role:

Experience of working in a highly regulated environment with associated processes and tools

Good knowledge of standard development and build tool, such as GIT, Jenkins and Confluence

Ansible and Python development experience

Experience in Design and Architecture for automation and cloud/on-prem deployment

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
