Create your own future

Learning about Security Monitoring, SOC, our offensive side (red team), applying what you learn and continuously improving our cyber resilience through Purple teaming. That is how you will use your talents as a Cyber Security Intern at Van Lanschot Kempen.

Several assignments/tasks are possible for this internship:

  • Threat hunting: We currently have a threat hunting process in place, but we want to increase this process's maturity with actionable cases. This internship can investigate how we can further improve our Threat Hunting based on best practices and provide a basis from where we start our new threat-hunting journey. This would include looking into what approaches we can take for some threats and implementing some hunting queries.
  • Actionable Threat Intelligence: There is a lot of information available from different sources on cyber threats, attacks and vulnerabilities. But the question that we have is how we can transform this intel into valuable information that we can use in our day-to-day operations. This can help us further improve the knowledge of the actors that have an interest in VLK. This knowledge can serve as input for new detections and hunting cases.
  • SOC Automation: The analysts in our Security Operations Center investigate cyber incidents daily. To improve the value of those incidents, we want to enrich the incident with valuable information or even go one step further and fully automate some incidents' investigation. The internship can investigate what we can automate and how we can most benefit from automation.
  • MISP Implementation: MISP is a solution for sharing indicators of compromise and threats. The blue team likes to include this information in their day-to-day work to strengthen our defenses further and to act on specific IOCs. This internship would dive into what MISP is and how we can best benefit from this solution to implement some of those feeds.
  • OpenAI & Malware development: As an intern on our Red Team, you will put yourself in the mind of an "attacker". You will collaborate with our team of security experts to use AI to create malware. In this assignment, you will work on developing technologies to circumvent antivirus products, using openAI.
  • Mobile application pentesting: As an intern on the red team, you will work on improving our mobile pentesting methodologies and tools. The aim of this internship is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our mobile pen testing, so that we can provide better security recommendations to our stakeholders.

Your talents

Curiosity, persistency and a touch of suspiciousness. This is how we can best describe you in the Cyber Security internship.
