We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement. We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people.

Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. We value new ideas and diverse perspectives, so our people are trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. You’ll develop fast and have the chance to move into different business areas and regions. And you’ll be part of a global network of like-minded people – a community that supports and learns from each other.

Power Systems is a global function that designs and develops Dyson’s internal technologies that enable most of our products. The team has experts in wide range of areas (mechanical, electrical, software, project management) and is responsible of the development from early stages through to production.

The Sahara team, a key component of the Power Systems division, specialises in the development of innovative material systems, including ceramics, metals, and chemicals, and their integration into Dyson technologies for use in Dyson machines. Comprising experts in design, prototyping, testing, systems engineering, ceramics, metallurgy, chemistry, thermal management, structural analysis, failure analysis, and characterisation, the team plays a pivotal role in transforming groundbreaking materials into practical applications that enhance the performance and functionality of Dyson products.

About the role

At Dyson, we're on a mission to engineer the future. Our multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists are dedicated to developing groundbreaking technologies for Dyson's range of machines. We're searching for an enthusiastic Graduate Engineer to contribute to our culture of innovation and excellence. If you're passionate about technology and eager to make an impact, we want you on our team.

  • Technology Development: Assist senior engineers in comprehensively capturing and documenting technological requirements, ensuring all necessary specifications, design outlines, technical documents, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) files, material formulations and drawings are accurately and thoroughly recorded. This involves a collaborative process of gathering all pertinent information to create a Bill of Specifications (BoS) that clearly outlines the expected outcomes, technical parameters, and design considerations for the project.

  • Solution Development and Evaluation: Play a critical role in the conceptual, basic, and detailed design phase by generating innovative ideas, exploring potential solutions, and rigorously evaluating their feasibility using a combination of analytical, numerical, and experimental methods. Focus on a specific segment of the project to contribute detailed insights and recommendations, ensuring that solutions are viable, efficient, and aligned with project goals.

  • Testing and Verification Support: Assist in developing and implementing robust test methodologies designed to verify that proposed technical solutions meet all specified requirements and standards. This involves closely working with the project team to execute these test methods, analyse results, and make necessary adjustments to ensure the technical integrity and performance of the solutions.

  • Prototyping Support: Contribute to the prototyping phase by supporting activities aimed at creating physical prototypes of Dyson technology. This entails collaborating with various departments to translate theoretical designs and concepts into tangible prototypes, which are crucial for assessing the practicality, performance, and potential of the technological solutions under development.

  • Engineering Solutions Exploration and Evaluation: Support senior engineers in the meticulous exploration and evaluation of engineering solutions, applying critical thinking and technical expertise to assess various options. Offer well-founded recommendations for selecting the most appropriate solutions based on a comprehensive analysis of their potential benefits, limitations, and alignment with project objectives.

  • Collaboration with Experts for System/Sub-system Development: Facilitate the development of relevant systems and technologies by working closely with both internal and external experts. This involves engaging in collaborative efforts to leverage specialized knowledge and skills, ensuring that the technological development is informed by the latest advancements, best practices, and innovative approaches in the field.
