Damen is an international shipyard group but at its heart, there is still a family company. We operate in every market where we see an opportunity to improve, innovate or invest and are on the way to become the most sustainable and connected shipbuilder in the world. We have a team of 12000 colleagues spread over 35 shipyards across 5 continents.

The IT&IM department is a professional provider of high-quality IT solutions and services and the driver for digital transformation. This results in improved productivity, better customer experience, new revenue streams and new business models. The department consists of approximately 160 FTE and provides 24-7 service to 35 business units and well over 7.000 users. The mission of IT&IM is to create business value by means of technology for Damen Shipyards Group by innovating the (digital) environment in which our colleagues, yards, ships, customers, and suppliers operate. IT&IM is organized in several agile teams, i.e. multidisciplinary teams that maintain and further improve/develop IT solutions.

IT&IM delivers and supports many standard products and services used in our business. However, sometimes our business requires specific solutions under sometimes extremely specific time constraints. You can imagine a vessel that is coming in for repairs needs to be connected to the internet or specific applications need to be made available for a newly built vessel in a yard somewhere in the world. And it needs to be done in time, so that we do not waste valuable time waiting on IT instead of servicing the vessel. These products and services do not fall under our standard catalogue and require special attention. Therefore, we initiated a special team: Catalyst team with flexible people who take ownership of the specific requirements and do not stop until it is usable for our business.

The DevOps engineer is responsible for understanding the business needs and turning them into realistic, workable, and lasting solutions that will boost efficiency and profitability. This versatile role involves working with stakeholders from business and IT to gather their specific requirements, analyze them and coordinate with peers in in- and/or external teams, manage the development of the solution and ensure it is implemented in our business. As you need to make sure you deliver your solutions in time, you show creativity, a do-it yourself mentality, and lots of perseverance to push through.

  • Requirement Gathering: Conduct meetings with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Solution design: Coordinate with architects the create design of the solution to be delivered.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with various teams to ensure that the proposed solutions are built and implemented effectively.
  • Reporting: Communicate and report findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • HBO IT engineering/IT administration;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in IT, flexible and willing to travel to wherever your solutions need to be implemented;
  • Dutch ánd English speaking; And already living in The Netherlands.
