At IMPROVEN, you work at the heart of decision-making. You connect strategy, projects and operations. From day one, you are a sparring partner for management, the board and C-level leaders, and gain the confidence to implement organisation-wide improvements. Your impact is reflected in better prioritisation, predictable execution and an agile project organisation.

What will you do as a Senior Consultant Project & Portfolio Management at IMPROVEN?

In this role, you work at the interface of strategy, project implementation, portfolio steering and organisational change. You help organisations focus on what really adds value, bring clarity to choices and decision-making, and ensure that changes are not only conceived, but actually realised. You advise directors, the board and senior management on the design and structure of projects and portfolios, develop the processes, frameworks and prioritisation mechanisms needed for predictability and effective governance, and coach teams in professional project work. You also set up an effective PMO or professionalise existing PMO functions to make organisations more manageable. You are the connecting link who translates strategy into structure, rhythm and results, and who brings people along in change. You operate in environments where project management and portfolio management are essential for success, exactly where you add value by strengthening governance, collaboration and decision-making.

Some of your duties

  • Advising organisations at strategic level on how to set up, manage and optimise their entire project and programme portfolio.
  • Guiding organisations in the transition to a mature and professionally equipped project-based way of working.
  • Develop and implement project and portfolio management processes, including decision-making frameworks, prioritisation and reporting structures.
  • Advise on and implement PPM software to support structured decision-making.
  • Setting up a Project Management Office (PMO) or professionalising existing PMO functions.
  • Advising directors and senior management (C-level) on project selection, portfolio decisions and strategic investments.
  • Establish, improve and secure a solid foundation for project and portfolio archiving, including documentation standards, version control and central knowledge building.

This is where you recognise yourself

  • You are looking for a role in which you combine substantive challenge, autonomy and visible impact.
  • You have 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably within municipalities or the state.
  • You understand both the process and the organisational side of change and project implementation.
  • You enjoy working in a consultancy environment in which responsibility, ownership, cooperation and quality are central.
  • You have experience with PPM software or portfolio management (e.g. Planview, ProjectPlace, MS Project Online, Primavera).
  • You want organisations to leave them better than you found them: more structured, professional and with stronger project management.
  • You communicate clearly, move easily at board level, know how to manage expectations well and interact easily with different stakeholders and teams.
  • You have experience with PMO/portfolio governance, decision-making and prioritisation.
  • You can analyse complex situations and translate them into clear choices, actions and priorities.

This is what else you are looking for in a job

  • A substantively strong senior role with visible strategic impact at leading customers.
  • Many autonomy, responsibility and influence.
  • A regular employment for an indefinite period.
  • 28 holidays for full-time employment.
  • Hybrid working: at the customer, in the office and at home.
  • A professional, entrepreneurial and collegial working environment.
  • Regular IMPROVEN benefits, including laptop/phone, pension and events, plus structural focus on knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Working on strategic tasks with social relevance.
