As a Project HSE Coordinator at Van Oord, you help create a safe and sustainable working environment where people can perform at their best. You work closely with international project teams and turn safety into action every day.

The position

As a Project HSE Coordinator, you play a key role in creating a safe and healthy working environment across our international projects. Working on rotation at different project locations, you help project teams turn our safety ambitions into everyday practice. You build strong relationships with colleagues, contractors and clients, giving them the confidence to work safely and responsibly. You know how to balance different interests while keeping safety at the heart of every decision. With your practical mindset and positive approach, you help create solutions that support both project success and the wellbeing of everyone on site.

Your impact

  • Constantly working on improvement in safety awareness and the safety culture within projects, encouraging project management to take responsibility
  • Ensure that safety policies, objectives, procedures and plans are effectively communicated and adhered to by all project members and subcontractors
  • Reporting on the safety performance to management, addressing audit and inspection findings and taking action on matters to prevent recurrence
  • Maintaining a strong communication and collaboration relationship with supervisors, clients, third parties and the QHSE department
  • Managing the project HSE team could be part of your role, depending on experience, and we encourage our employees to continue to develop and learn

These responsibilities collectively contribute to a comprehensive HSE management approach within the international projects.

You are eager to learn, build your HSE expertise and help create a workplace where everyone goes home safely. You communicate with confidence, build strong relationships and know how to inspire others to make safe choices. To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • A relevant degree, preferably with a focus on Health, Safety and Environment
  • A strong interest in HSE. Experience in a similar role is an advantage
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A genuine drive to make a positive impact on safety
