Applications are now open for the March-July 2027 session of the traineeship programme at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.

This is a paid traineeship that offers graduates the opportunity to gain valuable professional skills and hands-on experience within one of the EU’s key institutions. Trainees work in a multilingual and international environment, contributing to the day-to-day functioning of the Court while getting first-hand insight into the work of the EU’s main judicial institution.

It is important to note that the programme is not limited to law graduates. Candidates from a wide range of academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply – from law, political science, economics and international relations to IT, engineering, architecture or archival studies.

This session will run from 1 March to 31 July 2027. Participants will be placed either in

  • Members’ Chambers, working directly with Judges or Advocates General (more legally-focused roles)
  • Administrative services, such as Translation, Budget, Human Resources, IT, Communications, Buildings and Security, and the Registries.

An inclusive traineeship programme is also available for candidates with a recognised disability.

Who can apply?

Applicants must

  • be a citizen of an EU Member State (some exceptions may apply)
  • hold a university degree or diploma in any field of study; for traineeships in the Members’ Chambers, a degree in law, political science, economics or a related field is required
  • have a thorough knowledge of one official EU language and a good knowledge of another EU language; a good knowledge of French or English is required
  • have not already held a post or undertaken a traineeship lasting more than six weeks in an EU institution or body
