Are you excited to be part of our dynamic team where business meets technology? Driving Rituals' growth through innovative tools within our Tech & Data department.

Tech Lead – Data & Analytical Engineering

As Tech Lead - Data & Analytical Engineering, you will play a key role in strengthening how we build and scale data products within our value stream teams. You will join our Data, Analytics & AI organisation in Amsterdam and act as the technical leader within a data engineering team, combining hands-on engineering leadership with technical direction and mentoring.

In this role, you help bring trusted, scalable, and reliable data products closer to the business domains that use them every day. You will work on the adoption of our Enterprise Data Platform, helping value stream teams move faster while improving engineering quality and consistency. Your work will support better governance, stronger production standards, and more effective use of data across the organisation.

You will partner closely with Product Owners, value stream leads, business sponsors, data engineers, external engineering partners, and our wider Data Analytics and AI engineering forum. With your technical expertise and grounded approach, you will help elevate legacy models while building the next generation of domain-aligned data products. In doing so, you will help create measurable business value and shape the way we work as we continue to grow.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the technical design, build, and rollout of scalable data products for value stream teams on the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Define and evolve architectural patterns for data and analytical solutions, including decisions around batch and event-driven approaches.
  • Drive engineering excellence across development, testing, deployment, observability, security, and documentation standards.
  • Mentor data engineers and analytical engineers, while guiding external engineering partners to align with agreed ways of working.
  • Partner with Product Owners, value stream leads, and business sponsors to align priorities, explain technical decisions, and support platform adoption.
  • Elevate legacy data pipelines and products by bringing them in line with current engineering, governance, and quality standards.

Bring all of you

In this role, we are looking for a technical leader who combines deep engineering knowledge with a practical, collaborative mindset. You are comfortable moving between architecture, hands-on delivery, mentoring, and stakeholder conversations. You know how to raise standards without relying on formal authority, and you bring clarity to both technical and non-technical discussions. You enjoy helping teams build strong engineering habits while keeping an eye on what the business needs most. Above all, you bring ownership, curiosity, and care to the way you work with others and the products you help deliver.

To be successful in this role, you:

  • Bring strong hands-on experience in data and analytical engineering, including building and operationalising production-grade data products end-to-end.
  • Have deep expertise in one major cloud technology, preferably GCP, with working knowledge of managed products such as BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, and GCS, and can make sound trade-offs around cost, performance, and scalability.
  • Demonstrate influential leadership, mentoring skills, and the ability to guide engineers and external partners while raising standards across teams.
  • Are fluent in business English and comfortable working predominantly from the office in Amsterdam.

Our Benefits

  • Bonus opportunity
  • Pension plan
  • Travel allowance
  • Learning and development opportunities (training, internal growth, mentorship)
  • Employee discount on Rituals products
  • Wellbeing support initiatives
