Project Controller

By joining the finance team in our Nunspeet factory, you will take ownership and play a key role in all activities affecting capital budgeting, capitalisation, fixed assets control, and the pre- and post-evaluation of investment projects. You will ensure the accuracy of financial books in line with local accounting standards and Nestlé internal policies.

Nestlé Nunspeet is a successful operating unit of the Nestlé Group, producing advanced infant formula for both the Nutrition division and the Nestlé Health Science division. Products such as NAN, AL110, Alfaré, Althera and Alfamino are exported to countries all over the world.

About the role

This position reports to the Factory Controller. You will be part of the Finance & Control department in Nunspeet, a highly international and diverse team consisting of seven enthusiastic finance professionals specializing in different subject areas.

Your key role is to support the Project Manager as a trusted co-pilot on day-to-day activities as well as on a long-term project view. You will provide visibility around project-related costs through relevant analysis and reporting, monitor budgets and control variances, ensure adherence to financial internal requirements, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and budgets.

Your responsibilities are:

• Coordinate with the Factory Engineering Team working on investment projects
• Provide financial justification for proposed investment projects, including IRR, Pay Back, NPV, and Make or Buy analysis
• Monitor and report actual spending versus budgets
• Perform variance analysis and drive actions for budget control
• Capitalise spending in the form of fixed assets (WBS/SAP)
• Maintain balance sheet integrity, including CWIP and movement of fixed assets
• Ensure adherence to Nestlé Accounting Standards, Costing Standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Work in close coordination with Head Quarter and Shared Service Centers
• Coordinate and act as key contact for internal and external audits
• Manage vendors, including issuance of advances and recoveries with SAP/Easy buy
• Perform fixed assets verification and reconciliations
• Educate and train non-specialists through finance sessions
• Handle ad hoc queries and issue resolution

What are we looking for?

• Highly motivated individual aspiring to develop as a professional in the food industry
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated talent for analytics
• No experience is required; experience in a similar function, for example in sustainability or within the food industry, is a plus, but newcomers are also welcome
• Aptitude with financial systems like SAP and knowledge of CAPEX
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, curiosity to learn, and the ability to work in a complex environment
• Flexible and pragmatic approach to challenges
• Good command of English and Dutch
