You work with talented colleagues from many nationalities and help improve the way the organization operates. Here, your expertise creates impact that reaches far beyond finance.

The position

The Financial Service Center (FSC) is part of the Finance & Control department and delivers centralized accounting and payroll services to Van Oord business units, projects and staff departments worldwide. From the headquarters in Rotterdam, five specialized teams work together to provide reliable and efficient financial services. As a Financial Controller within the Record to Report team, you help strengthen financial control and ensure the quality of financial reporting. You oversee key processes, support continuous improvement and help create a more standardized way of working. As the FSC continues its journey towards becoming a Business Service Center, you will play an important role in shaping the future of the finance organization. Your analytical approach helps create transparency and supports management teams in making well informed decisions. At the same time, you contribute to the further professionalization of the finance function and prepare the organization for future growth.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and improving the FSC period end close process for the entities in scope
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and validating general ledger data
  • Analyzing financial results and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
  • Standardizing and improving balance sheet specifications and reconciliation processes within the Record to Report team
  • Maintaining process documentation, strengthening controls and supporting automation initiatives

In the future, the team will also take responsibility for preparing local statutory annual accounts, creating additional opportunities to broaden your impact.

Your workplace

You will work from the modern headquarters in Rotterdam. The office offers an inspiring environment where collaboration, knowledge sharing and wellbeing come together. You can make use of the in house gym and benefit from flexible hybrid working arrangements. Teamwork is encouraged, and colleagues come together to solve challenges and celebrate successes.

About you

You are analytical, accurate and driven to improve the quality of financial processes. You enjoy working with data, have a strong sense of ownership and know how to balance detail with the bigger picture. You collaborate easily with different stakeholders and feel comfortable in an international and dynamic environment.

To be successful in this role, you bring:

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Record to Report, Financial Controlling or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes and reporting standards
