Your impact at MUFG

Reporting to the Head of Data Management, you will support data management by seeking effective business solutions for the delivery of new regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives through both automated and non-automated components of existing regulatory reporting processes within the bank.

You will assist in the analysis of stakeholder objectives and the identification and resolution of underlying issues arising from those investigations. You will translate business requirements into actionable solutions to enable IT colleagues to deliver outcomes that meet business stakeholder needs.

In addition, you will proactively identify potential benefits and available options for consideration and work with business users in designing acceptance tests for new systems or changes to existing systems or business processes.

You will also document and maintain the traceability of requirements through to deliverables on any project, with the aim of ensuring the final delivery meets the business’ requirements.

The role includes the following:

  • Contribute to and drive key data and reporting initiatives.
  • Assist with and undertake root cause analysis for data quality issues and develop an in-depth understanding of data lifecycle management.
  • Understand Key Data Elements (KDE) and their application.
  • Perform data quality checks for Key Data Elements and take appropriate action based on priority.
  • Operate data governance strategies and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality data is available and agreed upon across the organization.
  • Partner successfully with stakeholders and data owners to understand business requirements.
  • Foster collaboration among all parties involved in projects and initiate automation of the end-to-end data quality process.
  • Determine business needs, translate them into technical specifications, and establish a timetable for completion.
  • Understand tabular and multidimensional models compatible with data warehouse standards.
  • Communicate requirements effectively with clients, business teams, and internal teams.
  • Work with the business intelligence team to gather requirements for database design and modeling.
  • Understand the data needs of the company and internal customers.
  • Collaborate with the development team to design and analyze the database model.
  • Adjust access to data and reports as needed.
  • Work closely with the development team to implement data warehouse and reporting solutions.
  • Support report migration as part of newly implemented data strategies.
  • Ensure all relevant information is available to guide the design of data and reporting solutions.
  • Use data gathered during analysis to make informed decisions that influence the direction and shape of solutions.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Analytical thinking for converting data into relevant reports and graphics.
  • Knowledge of Power BI application security layer models and row-level data security.
  • Proficiency in advanced-level computations on data sets.
  • Knowledge of relational databases including SQL and where to implement logic (DAX vs SQL/Python).
  • Familiarity with, or a bachelor’s degree in, computer science, data science, information technology, or data modeling.
  • Knowledge of entity relationship diagrams and Kimball modeling.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience training end users on how to use reports.
  • Knowledge of DAMA.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Advanced Power BI & Python experience required.
  • Familiarity with Informatica (AXON/IDQ/EDC) systems.
  • Advanced ability to read and write SQL and Python code.
  • Large data experience would be beneficial.
  • Systems architecture experience would be beneficial.
