The mission of the Directorate is to support the scientific and organisational development of the JRC to better support EU policymaking and democracy through scientific knowledge, foresight, evaluation and engagement with citizens.
Within CAS, the Advanced Interdisciplinary Research Programme is launching the three-year CROSSROADS project (Cross-disciplinary Research on Sovereignty, Security and Resilience of the AI and Data Stack).
CROSSROADS will develop digital sovereignty stress tests – systematic, scenario-based assessments – to identify vulnerabilities in AI, data and cloud infrastructures across technical, legal, and societal dimensions, delivering policy recommendations for a resilient European digital ecosystem.
