Financing Solutions is the non retail credit product unit of ABN AMRO, providing clients across segments with appropriate credit solutions. Financing Solutions originates, structures, monitors and provides credit advice, with a strong focus on operational excellence, compliance and future proof processes.

You will join a specialised Deep Sea Shipping sector team within the CRE & Shipping structure of Financing Solutions. The team manages a portfolio of shipping clients and works closely with colleagues in the Netherlands, Greece and Norway. You will manage a portfolio of deep-sea shipping companies and maritime operators with complex international financing needs and large exposures. You will oversee the full credit process from structuring to monitoring and execution, while acting as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders across relevant banking products.

As a Financial Solutions Specialist, you are a partner and adviser to clients and colleagues. You identify opportunities where your product or service adds value, work across the full life cycle of your scope, and help drive sustainable improvements and/or innovations in products and services. You work in a product specialist team to deliver end to end banking solutions, and you ensure execution is timely and accurate, aligned with client agreements.

Your job

As a Financial Solutions Specialist, you serve clients on a dedicated basis with significant client ownership. You are responsible for the full credit cycle of a moderately complex portfolio and spend most of your time on portfolio ownership and execution, while also supporting more senior colleagues on structuring, monitoring and loan execution when needed.

You combine commercial focus, analytical judgement and risk awareness to deliver on key results including client outcomes, first time right credit delivery, time to yes/time to cash, data quality across the credit chain, organised execution, and KYC/client integrity.

In practice, you will:

  • Manage a dedicated client portfolio in the Shipping sector, including developing commercial strategy for your portfolio and monitoring client and account plans.
  • Provide strategic credit advice based on strong knowledge of complex financial products, credit risks and sector developments, translating client needs into bankable structures.
  • Conduct strategic client conversations and respond to product related questions to identify and capture commercial opportunities.
  • Own the end to end credit process for new and existing clients: structuring, negotiating and executing transactions, and maintaining tailor made credit solutions.
  • Perform continuous credit risk monitoring (Basel and full reviews, covenants) and act on triggers/signals; drive follow up actions and remediation.
  • Coordinate the credit chain with stakeholders such as Risk, Markets, Transaction Banking, Client Support, Lending Support, Contracting and Legal.
  • Ensure high quality documentation and compliance (KYC/AML, laws and regulations) and contribute to process optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to Financing Solutions priorities: operational excellence and innovation, digitalisation/automation, and proactive risk management approaches (e.g., moving toward more risk based monitoring).

Working environment

Within Financing Solutions, we aim to deliver exceptional service through operational excellence—balancing efficiency where it matters and expertise where it counts—while maintaining strict compliance and managing risk and cost responsibly.

You will work primarily in Amsterdam in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with product partners and the wider credit chain.

Your profile

  • Education: Master’s degree (WO) or comparable.
  • Experience: typically 8+ years of relevant experience, with evidence of managing moderately complex credit cases independently within defined guidelines.
  • Knowledge of complex financing products, credit risk, documentation, business models, regulations; knowledge of the Shipping sector is considered an advantage.
  • Understanding of laws and regulations including KYC/AML, compliance and risk analysis.
  • Ability to connect across relevant products/services and translate client needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Structured, organised execution with strong attention to quality and data integrity; comfortable coordinating stakeholders and driving alignment through the credit chain.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required. Additional languages are considered an advantage.
  • This role requires being at ABN AMRO’s HQ office in Amsterdam around 75% of the time and includes international travel.

We are offering

  • The opportunity to work flexible hours and develop both personally and professionally.
  • A personal development budget of EUR 1,000 per year.
  • An annual public transportation pass.
  • A solid pension plan.
  • A role at the heart of the CRE & Shipping transformation where you can combine client impact with portfolio quality and continuous improvement in the credit domain.
