International School Utrecht (ISU) is a warm and welcoming learning community focused on inspiring students with a passion for lifelong learning and equipping them with the tools to achieve excellence for themselves and the global community. Uncovering and defining talent is at the heart of its educational mission.

In 2027, ISU will move to its permanent campus at Utrecht Science Park (USP), a major milestone for the school community and an exciting moment to help shape how the school presents itself to the world.

ISU is looking for a Digital Marketing Intern to help bring communications and marketing plans to life through content, storytelling, and digital engagement. This is a hands-on learning opportunity for 3–6 months, offering real experience in digital marketing within an international school environment, helping to tell stories that connect families with education, support young people’s development, and contribute to a diverse international learning community.

As an organisation, the work is rooted in education and community, and this internship offers the opportunity to contribute to something with a real social purpose.

About the internship

Structure

  • Duration: 3–6 months, starting in September/October 2026
  • Regular feedback and evaluation sessions
  • Internship agreement outlining learning goals and project outcomes

Who this is for

  • Currently studying Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field
  • Interested in digital marketing and social media
  • Creative and enjoys storytelling
  • Organised and able to manage small projects
  • Curious and open to learning in a professional environment
  • (Near) native in English
  • Has a VOG, or is willing to obtain a VOG
  • Willing to do an unpaid internship

What you will do

Content & Storytelling

  • Create engaging social media content (posts, short-form video, visuals) for different platforms
  • Help tell the story of the new campus, students, and school community
  • Contribute to content that reflects the school’s values and identity

Social Media & Engagement

  • Support day-to-day activity on social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Help plan and develop content ideas and posting schedules
  • Monitor engagement and learn how audiences interact with content

Campaigns & Marketing

  • Support small-scale digital campaigns aligned with messaging
  • Contribute ideas for improving reach and engagement
  • Learn how content connects to the student admissions journey

What you will learn

This internship is designed as a structured learning experience.

You will gain experience in:

  • Turning strategy into real digital content
  • Social media marketing and audience engagement
  • Content planning and storytelling
  • Marketing analytics and performance tracking
  • How digital marketing supports recruitment and admissions
  • Building a professional portfolio of real work, including content and campaigns shared with an engaged school community, supported by measurable results and insights

You will be supported through regular feedback, guidance, and reflection.

You do not need to be an expert. This is a learning role, and ISU is a learning community that you will join and enjoy.

This is an unpaid internship suited to students who are eager to build real-world experience. At ISU, classrooms are regularly opened to pedagogical interns who want to develop their teaching skills in a real environment. The school believes in learning by doing, and this internship is built on that same idea. While no promises can be made, paid roles do occasionally emerge, and the school looks first to people who already know the community.
