Are you social, curious and interested in financial markets? Have you always wanted to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment on the largest trading floor in continental Europe? Then the Global Markets Traineeship within Graduate Corporate Banking could be right for you. You will structure the best deals for clients and guide them in the complex world of financial instruments.

Your job

As a trainee within Global Markets, you follow what is happening in the world and financial markets and how this influences the needs of clients, products and the bank. During the traineeship you will have a lot of room to develop yourself, both personally and professionally.

Your first 5 weeks at ABN AMRO start with a Corporate Banking Traineeship introduction programme at Nyenrode Business University, where together with other trainees you will get to know the bank. During this period, you familiarise yourself with the corporate bank and participate in a training programme that includes both professional and personal development sessions. The trainings are provided by experts at the top of their field, offering you a solid basis to further develop yourself within the bank. At the same time, you build an international network of fellow trainees in different parts of the corporate bank.

After completing the 5-week introduction programme, you will start the Global Markets rotation programme. Over the course of 24 months, you will work in different teams on the dealing room and get the chance to branch out into one of the other departments within the corporate bank, thereby broadening your knowledge and network. It is also possible to gain experience abroad in one of the offices in Frankfurt, Paris, London or New York. After 24 months, you are ready to start in a team that best matches your skills and ambitions.

Possible rotations:

  • Fixed Income & Derivatives (FID) Sales & Trading: Dive into the world of interest rate products and derivatives and improve your technical skills with one of the FID Trading teams. Learn to structure financial products for institutional and corporate clients.
  • Foreign Exchange Sales & Trading: Immerse yourself in the rapidly changing world of foreign exchange (FX). Help improve electronic FX trading platforms and understand how the FX Sales team serves clients.
  • Debt Capital Markets (DCM): Be involved in a wide range of DCM transactions such as bond issues from corporate and financial institutions, securitisations and syndicated loans.
  • Equity Capital Markets (ECM): Participate in important and strategic transactions such as IPOs and follow-on share issues for corporate clients.
  • Product Management & Strategy: Gain unique insights into the strategic choices for Global Markets in alignment with the broader ABN AMRO strategy.

As your role is constantly changing, you will learn a lot in a short time. With all the knowledge you gain, you guarantee yourself a solid basis for a great career at ABN AMRO.

Working environment

It also assists clients with a listing (IPO) or the issuance of bonds. Transactions are carried out from offices in Amsterdam, New York, Frankfurt, London and Paris.
