4TU.ResearchData is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Community and Partnerships Manager to lead and grow our diverse community which consists of researchers and data professionals across the Dutch technical universities (4TUs) and beyond. In this role, you will engage with research communities from the 4TUs and more broadly across the Netherlands, stimulating connections and collaborations for the use and reuse of data and software. You will identify and establish partnerships to support the uptake of FAIR data practices across the technical universities and collaborate with related (inter)national organisations and infrastructures in the domain of the natural and engineering sciences.

You will lead work on a key strategic goal for 4TU.ResearchData which is to foster a culture and community to support FAIR data and software. 4TU.ResearchData provides community-driven open infrastructure for the natural and engineering sciences and the voice and involvement of the community is central to our work. With these goals, the Community and Partnerships Manager will continue to develop our community, strengthen existing partnerships and form new ones, and help to communicate our work and its impact. Examples of past and present community activities include working groups on topical themes, projects to facilitate public engagement with data, roadshows at the technical universities to engage with faculties and research groups, community days, workshops and conferences, and coordinating the FAIR Data Fund to support and reward FAIR data practices.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate and grow the 4TU.ResearchData community.
  • Encourage researchers and research support staff to join the community and make use of the 4TU.ResearchData repository.
  • Develop, organise and oversee a range of community events and projects (e.g. roadshows, workshops, FAIR Data Fund).
  • Foster and manage strategic relationships and partnerships with institutions to support policy alignment, co-development of infrastructure and community connections.
  • Support, promote and expand our collaborations both within the Netherlands and internationally.
  • Manage communication channels for the community to engage, connect and collaborate.
  • Support other members of the team as required.

4TU.ResearchData is a research infrastructure, community and training provider whose mission is to enable researchers from science, engineering and design disciplines to make a global impact with research data and software. We provide a trusted digital repository which supports Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data and software by offering curation, sharing, long-term access and preservation. The repository has a broad community of users and supporters who advance FAIR data and software practices. 4TU.ResearchData is governed and led by a consortium of four technical universities in the 4TU.Federation (TU Delft, University of Twente, TU Eindhoven and Wageningen University & Research) and is hosted by TU Delft.

Job requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who have:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing communities and/or partnerships, with proven expertise in engaging, developing and sustaining communities.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing partner relations and/or memberships to support collaboration and organisational growth.
  • Strong organisational skills, including coordinating and organising events and projects.
  • Excellent team-working and collaboration skills, including experience working with multiple networks and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting and writing skills.
  • Affinity with and knowledge of open science and FAIR data/software.
  • Excellent command of English and willingness to learn Dutch if not yet proficient.
  • Understanding and experience of working in higher education and with research communities is a plus.

  • Duration of contract is 1 year, temporary with prospect of permanent.
