About this position

The Education & Profession (E&P) project team is part of the Child Health department. Within this department, health scientists, epidemiologists, educationalists, psychologists, youth health physicians, and statisticians work together on a wide range of themes aimed at creating the best possible conditions for children to grow up healthy, safe, and with equal opportunities. Collaborating on solutions is what connects and drives the experts within the Child Health department.

What will be your role?

Starting August 1, 2026, we are looking for an Educator who will supervise groups of residents training to become KNMG-certified youth health physicians. In addition to delivering the structured educational curriculum, the Educator will play a key role in the practical training component of the program. Updating the curriculum in line with the new National Training Plan and other current developments will also form an important part of the role.

You will focus on the full breadth of the profession, including curriculum development, teaching, and educational consultancy. In this role, you will collaborate with professionals in the field, training and internship organizations, universities, and other research and educational institutes. In doing so, you will contribute to the effective and efficient implementation of Public Health services, with a particular focus on youth healthcare.

The program is offered in both Eindhoven and Leiden. During the onboarding period and afterwards, flexibility will be required to travel regularly to Eindhoven and Leiden. You will primarily be involved with the training groups at the Eindhoven location.

TNO offers an inspiring environment where experts from diverse disciplines conduct research and develop practical solutions to societal challenges, including promoting healthy childhood development. There are many opportunities for continuous professional growth. Training courses are offered at various levels, and your colleagues will support and coach you while also encouraging you to develop yourself further and take ownership of your professional development.

What we expect from you

You are registered as a Public Health Physician (Arts Maatschappij en Gezondheid) or as a Youth Health Care Profile Physician (JGZ), and you have an interest in and/or experience with training residents within an educational institution. In addition, you:

  • are a strong team player with a flexible mindset;
  • possess excellent communication skills;
  • are able to work independently and show initiative;
  • know when to involve colleagues for professional reflection or advice.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave plus a flexible holiday that can be used on a cultural, religious, or otherwise important day of your choosing (on a full-time basis).
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home.
  • A good pension scheme.

Their curiosity, expertise and entrepreneurial mindset make it possible to deliver high-impact research and innovations that contribute to society’s sustainable wellbeing and prosperity.
