Software Development Internship - API Quality

At Nedap in Healthcare, we support over 1,900 healthcare organizations and around 400,000 professionals with our Ons® Suite. Our platform consists of more than 25 applications that work together through a growing API ecosystem, used not only internally, but also by over 200 external software partners.

To keep this ecosystem scalable and reliable, high-quality API specifications are essential. Today, we see opportunities to improve the consistency, completeness, and usability of our API documentation — and to better leverage standards like OpenAPI.

During this internship, you will develop AI-supported tooling that helps us improve and safeguard the quality of our API landscape. Your work directly contributes to how developers — both inside and outside Nedap — build on our platform.

What are you going to do?

• Analyze the current API landscape: identify inconsistencies and improvement opportunities in API specifications and implementations.
• Design AI-supported tooling: explore how AI can compare API specifications with their actual implementation.
• Detect quality gaps: signal missing documentation, incorrect parameter definitions, or deviations from standards.
• Propose improvements: generate actionable suggestions to improve API specifications and potentially implementations.
• Validate usability: ensure your solution integrates well into the workflow of our developers.
• Deliver a usable product: build an application that can be continued and used after your internship.

Your team

You will join the team responsible for Ons® API — the platform that enables external software partners to integrate with the Ons® Suite. This team plays a key role in connecting our internal APIs with the outside world.

During your internship, you will work closely with experienced developers who understand the complexity of our ecosystem. You will also collaborate with colleagues specialized in architecture, development platforms, and AI, ensuring your work has impact across the entire suite.

Required skills

We’re looking for a curious and proactive student who wants to make an impact on a real-world platform.

• You are currently pursuing a HBO or WO degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
• You have an interest in AI, APIs, and modern software architectures.
• You are comfortable communicating with developers and asking questions.
• You are eager to explore, experiment, and turn ideas into working solutions.
