Join the Operations & Integration Division in the Directorate General On-site & Internal Model Inspections as a Supervision Analyst.

Your team

You will be part of the Operations & Integration Division in the Directorate General On-site & Internal Model Inspections. The Directorate General plans, performs and coordinates on-site inspections and internal model investigations in collaboration with the national competent authorities (NCAs), helping identify risks and supervisory priorities.

In this role, you will be part of a team of about 15 staff members responsible for the planning and staffing of SSM on-site inspections (OSIs) and internal model investigations (IMIs). You will closely cooperate with NCAs’ planning offices on the planning and staffing of on-site missions, support the operational launch of OSIs and IMIs, maintain and enhance planning tools and dashboards, and perform data analysis and prepare presentations to underpin the overall planning process.

The Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries.

Your role

As a Supervision Analyst you will:

  • engage and collaborate with the various stakeholders working with the Operations & Integration Division, including colleagues from the NCAs and the other divisions of the Directorate General;
  • establish, maintain and enhance planning tools, dashboards and datasets to support the planning and staffing of missions;
  • support the planning and execution of the on-site supervisory programme by carrying out various operational tasks, in particular launching on-site inspections and preparing appointment letters for heads of mission, leveraging automated routines and codes;
  • contribute to the planning and staffing of OSIs and IMIs, acting as point of contact for one or more NCAs’ planning offices;
  • contribute to the preparation of briefings and presentations related to the Division’s tasks and participate in cross-departmental projects, international fora and working groups;
  • identify and propose process improvements and simplification in relation to the above tasks.

For this role, candidates should demonstrate the potential for growth, and the selected candidate will be supported in developing the required skills.

The position offers excellent opportunities to actively contribute to delivering on DG-OMI’s mandate using technical skills and to strengthen project management skills by dealing with key supervisory processes in a multi-stakeholder environment. You will also further develop your ability to think analytically and challenge constructively, with a focus on results, teamwork, cooperation and communication.

You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, finance, economics, information technology, another STEM subject or another relevant field;
  • in addition to the above, a minimum of two years’ experience in the field of planning and project management, or in a position involving coordination among several stakeholders, and the ability to work with data, gained in the context of banking supervision, consulting or finance;
  • advanced knowledge of data analysis, data processing and data visualisation tools, including Excel, Python, PowerBI, and the ability to work with databases;
  • a track record in effectively managing multiple recurring and ad hoc tasks, while prioritising appropriately and meeting deadlines;
  • experience in working with multiple stakeholders, tasks or processes, demonstrating an ownership mentality;
  • strategic thinking skills including a continuous learning mindset and outcome-oriented approach;
  • excellent communication, negotiation and drafting skills, and the ability to prepare presentations and briefings in a clear, concise way for diverse audiences;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU.

Desired

  • experience in banking supervision in the context of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, particularly as team member for on-site missions.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.

You are motivated to be part of the team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position. You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe.

Working modalities

Working for European banking supervision involves spending short periods of time abroad for on-site visits or training. This important part of the work is complemented by an environment in which well-being and a good work-life balance are fostered. Playing a role in European banking supervision also entails collaborating in multinational and multicultural teams and operating in the context of different national frameworks, for which a strong ability to use different EU languages for business purposes is an asset.
