You want to see the real impact of your work. Not just numbers on a screen, but projects that shape the Netherlands. In this role, you are close to the action. You support complex infrastructure projects while working from our project site office in the south of the Netherlands and partly from the HQ in Rotterdam. You grow your financial expertise while helping build something that lasts.

The position

As Junior Project Controller, you are part of the Area Netherlands organisation. You play a key role in managing the financial side of our infrastructure projects. You ensure clear insights, reliable reporting and strong financial control. You work closely with project teams and spend around two days per week on a project location in the south of the Netherlands. This gives you a direct connection to the work and the people behind it.

Your impact

You help projects stay in control and make better decisions through clear and timely financial insights. Your work brings structure to complex projects, supports steady progress and connects teams through reliable data.

  • Set up and maintain clear project structures in our accounting systems
  • Monitor costs, analyse performance and report on financial progress
  • Prepare financial reports and support forecasting and cash flow
  • Support purchase orders, invoicing and vendor payments
  • Ensure accurate accruals and compliance with accounting guidelines including PoC, and support audits and closing processes

Your workplace

You work from our project site office, a place where people connect easily and share knowledge, and where you see how your work contributes to real progress. You collaborate with project manager and other stakeholders in an open and supportive environment. Here, you are trusted to take ownership and encouraged to improve processes and ways of working. At the same time, you are regularly at the HQ in Rotterdam to connect with the Finance team of the Dredging & Infra Business Unit.

About you

You enjoy working with numbers and people. You are accurate and like to understand what is really happening behind the figures. You speak up, ask questions and look for better ways to do things.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics, Accounting or similar
  • Around 1 to 6 years of experience in accounting or project control, or a strong motivation to grow into this role
  • Fluent in Dutch and comfortable in English
  • Experience in a project environment or affinity with infrastructure or maritime is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in working with different stakeholders
  • Structured, proactive and eager to learn

We offer

A role where you combine office work with real project impact, giving you both perspective and hands-on experience.

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience
  • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.45 per day)
  • 32 holidays (of which a maximum of 7 are collective)
  • Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results
  • Attractive pension scheme
  • Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package)
  • Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via Goodhabitz
  • Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the Van Oord staff association
  • Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling, and motorcycling

Show what you can do and where your ambition lies, and you’ll get every opportunity to act on it. That’s something I’m proud of!
