Duration: at least 6 months

Internship Title

HBO graduation internship: AI supported trend analysis of Quality notifications.

Your role:

Nonconformance events encountered during production are registered in a quality notification (QN) record. These QNs contain both quantitative data, such as dates, affected material, and defect type, as well as qualitative descriptions, including failure mode description, investigation notes, and comments.

We want to explore AI-supported trend analysis to gain actionable insights on failure mode level, such as identifying similar problems for different parts or systems, and analyze the use case with recommendations for improvement.

Your Assignment

As an HBO graduation student, you will:

  • Analyze historical quality notifications (quantitative + qualitative)
  • Develop an AI-supported prototype within our internal software environment for trend analysis
  • Provide recommendations to improve and facilitate AI-assisted trend monitoring
  • Visualize insights in dashboards or summaries
  • Be on-site at Factory Best

You will work closely with our Quality Engineering teams to ensure your solution is practical, implementable, and valuable for daily operations.

What You Will Learn

  • Translating stakeholder requirements into technical specifications
  • Creating an AI-supported software prototype
  • Applying AI and data analysis to real industrial data
  • Creating a business case with recommendations for process and data improvement

Deliverables

By the end of your internship, you will deliver:

  • Prototype for AI-supported trend analysis
  • Recommendations for improvements to improve AI implementation
  • Visualized trends and insights
  • Final report and presentation

Your profile

We are looking for a student who:

  • Is enrolled in an HBO program, such as:
  • Industrial Engineering & Management
  • Data Science
  • Business IT & Management
  • Technical Business Administration
  • Has affinity with AI, data analysis, and problem-solving
  • Works in a structured and analytical way
  • Can translate insights into practical solutions

This assignment offers an opportunity to apply AI in a real industrial environment, making a tangible impact on quality improvement.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

We offer you:

  • A non-stop growth opportunity within a global multinational company
  • Housing compensation if you need to relocate near the office, with a monthly allowance of €300 net if the location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, or €255 net for all other Philips locations. Eligibility requires a rental contract and a usual home-work travel distance of more than 50 km or 1.5 hours of travel time one way.
  • Travel compensation if you are not eligible for a free public transport card, with a maximum monthly allowance of €192 net.
  • Paid holidays per internship term
  • The opportunity to buy Philips products at the Philips shop
