As Manager Simulator Centre at Van Oord, you give direction to a learning and training environment where learning and development are central. You design and develop learning programmes in which operational experience is purposefully translated into realistic simulations and effective learning interventions. In this way, you create a learning process in which colleagues build skills, consciously develop behaviour and continuously learn from real and/or simulated situations. This allows you to make a direct impact on the safety, quality and performance of our fleet and projects worldwide.

The position

As Manager Simulator Centre, you are ultimately responsible for the effective functioning and further development of the simulator centre and the trainer team. You lead a team of trainers and instructors and ensure that all training remains of high quality and continues to align with the operational reality of tomorrow.

You work closely with stakeholders such as Crewing, our business units Dredging & Infra, Offshore Energy and technical teams. Through this collaboration, you identify developments in operations and translate them into forward-looking training programmes and learning interventions. You play an active role in strengthening safety, craftsmanship and performance across the organisation.

In addition, you maintain relationships with external partners such as Kongsberg and Huisman. You safeguard certification and quality standards and drive innovation within the simulator centre, ensuring the learning environment continues to align with Van Oord’s technological and operational ambitions.

Your impact

In this role, you make a direct impact on the safety and performance of our operations. You:

  • Improve safety and operational excellence on board our vessels;
  • Develop high-quality and future-proof training programmes;
  • Translate the needs of different stakeholders into concrete solutions;
  • Contribute to the development and long-term strategy.

About you

You are a strong leader who knows how to connect and motivate people. You have an affinity with technology and understand the dynamics of an operational maritime environment.

In addition, you bring:

  • HBO level of working and thinking with at least 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in a leadership role;
  • Strong organisational and communication skills;
  • Experience in designing and implementing training programmes based on operational processes is a plus;
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
