Are you a data engineering expert who thrives on building scalable, secure, and future-proof data solutions? Do you want to make a real impact by transforming HR data into reliable, automated insights that drive strategic decision-making? Then this opportunity at Wolters Kluwer might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Join our Workforce Intelligence team and play a key role in shaping modern data architecture that supports people analytics at scale.

The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a robust and secure HR data architecture. You’ll work closely with the Lead Data Scientist and technical stakeholders to ensure that data flows seamlessly, securely, and accurately across systems. This is a highly impactful role where you will take ownership of the HR data lake and help evolve it into a scalable, automated, and future-ready platform.

What will you do?

  • Design and implement a modern, scalable data architecture for HR and people analytics
  • Build and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to integrate data from systems like Workday and other sources
  • Ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable data integration across all platforms
  • Structure and optimize the data lake according to best practices
  • Translate security and compliance requirements into robust data engineering solutions
  • Implement data lifecycle management processes, including retention and purging
  • Ensure data quality through monitoring, testing, and validation (e.g. dashboards and reporting)
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams and stakeholders
  • Document data architecture, processes, and security standards
  • Support auditability, traceability, and backup/recovery strategies

Your skills and profile

  • Strong background in data engineering and data platform design
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, data modelling, and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Snowflake
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, data storage, and security concepts
  • Experience with data integrations and building reliable data pipelines
  • Bachelor-level thinking and working ability
  • Full professional proficiency in English

Nice to have

  • Experience with Snowflake, including Snowpark, or Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, ADLS)
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with Power BI for data monitoring
  • Basic software engineering knowledge

Soft skills

You are someone who takes true ownership of your work and feels responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable data solutions. With your strong attention to detail, you ensure that data is always accurate, consistent, and fully aligned across systems. You are able to work independently on complex data structures, while also being a collaborative partner for stakeholders across the organization. Thanks to your clear communication style, you can easily translate technical concepts into understandable insights for non-technical colleagues. You ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when needed, and bring a structured, solution-oriented mindset to every problem you tackle.

Why this role with us?

  • Make a direct impact on the future of people analytics and data-driven HR
  • Work on building a central data lake that enables automation, scalability, and innovation
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals in data science and HR analytics
  • Take ownership of a critical data engineering domain within the organization
  • Opportunity to shape and influence data architecture from the ground up

What we offer

  • A key position with high visibility and impact
  • A collaborative, international, and data-driven environment
  • Hybrid working model with flexibility
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
