Role Description

About Us:

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join our global quality engineering department to ensure quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle. You will be a champion for the user experience, advocating for best practices and ensuring that features are designed and implemented in a testable way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take part in planning and design to make sure testing is considered from the start.

  • Define and run functional, regression, and exploratory tests.

  • Review results of the daily regression cycle and follow up on failures.

  • Work with developers to improve testability (e.g. unit tests, clear test data, early checks).

  • Log, track, and retest defects, making sure issues are clearly described and reproducible.

  • Use root-cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys) to understand why defects happen and prevent them in future.

  • Suggest and support process improvements that make testing faster and more effective.

  • Trigger and monitor tests in the CI pipeline and report on test outcomes.

  • Help decide what to automate and what to test manually, based on risk and value.

  • Work closely with Developers, Designers, and Product Managers to align on quality expectations.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with other Quality Engineers and Software Quality Specialists.

  • Communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders about quality, risks, and progress.

Job Requirements

  • 3–4 years of experience in software testing

  • Experience working in agile teams

  • Good understanding of test design and execution (functional, regression, exploratory, risk-based).

  • Experience reviewing and maintaining test cases and test requirements.

  • Hands-on experience working with CI/CD pipelines to trigger and review automated tests.

  • Experience using tools such as: BrowserStack, Postman (or similar) for API testing.

  • Basic knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or similar)

  • Strong attention to detail and a structured, organised way of working.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, able to spot patterns and risks.

  • Clear, concise communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
