Your impact:

As a Junior Forensic & eDiscovery Specialist, you collect, preserve, and process digital data from ING systems, supporting forensic investigations and eDiscovery projects from start to finish. Your findings contribute directly to sensitive integrity investigations, legal procedures, and regulatory requests.

The team

You will join the Digital Investigations (DI) team in Amsterdam. Digital Investigations is located under Corporate Special Investigations (CSI) next to the Special Investigations (SI) team, ING’s centre of expertise for eDiscovery, Digital Forensics, and data analytics. We support internal clients worldwide and collaborate closely with the Special Investigations teams. Professionalism, integrity, and fact finding are core to everything we do.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Identify, collect, preserve, and process Electronically Stored Information (ESI) including email, OneDrive, Teams following forensic standards and chain of custody requirements.
  • Perform reactive and proactive data analyses on large volumes of structured and unstructured data under supervision of experienced colleagues.
  • Perform digital investigations on end points and server environments to provide digital evidence in internal investigations under supervision of experienced colleagues.
  • Work with eDiscovery tools and digital investigation tooling to process, review, and produce data, while helping to standardise and document end to end processes.
  • Prepare concise and accurate reports that may be used in internal investigations or external proceedings.
  • Collaborate closely with investigators, Legal, Compliance, internal/external auditors, lawyers, and where relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Contribute to innovation within Digital Investigations, leveraging technologies such as GenAI, machine learning, correlation and network analysis, predictive coding, and automation. (Training and on the job learning are provided.)

Must haves

  • Bachelor-level degree (HBO) in Digital forensic, Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and its processes.
  • Interest in (international) investigations or affinity with regulated‑industry investigations.
  • Awareness of financial crime, cybercrime, and relevant legislation; discreet and privacy conscious.
  • A structured, accurate way of working and strong documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Nice to haves

  • Experience or strong interest in analysing large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python, or willingness to further develop coding skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Defender and Sentinel as well as eDiscovery tools.
  • Interest in ML/NLP, predictive coding, process automation, or advanced analytics.
