Your fast‑track start in the world of Transaction Services

ING offers an 18‑month Transaction Services traineeship in Amsterdam for graduates who want to start their career in a fast‑paced, international banking environment and help corporate and institutional clients achieve their ambitions through innovative Transaction Services solutions. Are you eager to dive into the dynamic world of banking and thrive in a fast‑paced, international environment? This is your chance!

During this 18‑month Transaction Services traineeship, you will complete three rotations across different TS teams, gaining hands‑on experience and contributing to meaningful client‑focused solutions from day one. You will work in a dynamic environment, learn at a steep pace, and be surrounded by colleagues who are passionate about delivering impact.

About Transaction Services

Transaction Services (TS) is the heartbeat of ING’s Wholesale Banking franchise. We support corporate and institutional clients across our global network, and we are recognised as a top‑3 transaction bank in the Eurozone.

We offer products such as:

  • Payments & Cash Management – routing payments & collections so clients can pay salaries, suppliers, taxes, and receive customer payments
  • Liquidity Management – helping clients optimise domestic and international flows
  • Working Capital Solutions – improving the cash conversion cycle
  • Trade Finance Solutions – supporting clients with documentary trade requirements

We operate in a rapidly changing environment where technology, regulation, and the macro‑economic landscape evolve quickly. Across our global network of 500+ TS professionals in 27 countries, we collaborate intensively to deliver relevant and innovative solutions for our clients.

The traineeship

Our Transaction Services traineeship is a full‑time 18‑month programme, designed to give you broad exposure to our TS organisation. It consists of three rotations of six months, each in a different area of Transaction Services. You will be an integrated team member and quickly familiarise yourself with our clients, products, processes, and the broader Wholesale Banking landscape.

You will start with two full onboarding weeks, meeting fellow trainees and learning about ING, Wholesale Banking, and the TS organisation. Throughout your traineeship, you follow a structured development curriculum with technical training, self‑study modules, professional skills development, and continuous on‑the‑job learning.

You will be assigned mentors to guide you throughout the programme, and a buddy will help you settle in in each rotation.

Upon successful completion of the traineeship, our ambition is to offer you a permanent position within Transaction Services. While your primary base will be Amsterdam, one of your rotations may take place abroad, reflecting our international TS network.

Your rotations – possible areas

Your rotations will be matched to your skills, interests, and our business needs. Possible teams include:

Strategy & Balance Sheet Management

The team is responsible for several elements of our Strategy, being Strategy & Performance, Correspondent Banking Management, Balance Sheet Management and People.

Sales

Local and global TS sales teams advising clients on their cash, trade, liquidity and working capital needs.

Central Cash & Trade advisory teams supporting complex deal structuring.

Product Management

PCM and Trade product teams developing, maintaining, and marketing competitive, compliant products.

Delivery Management

Ensuring efficient operational processes and developing new (technical) solutions of products and services for our clients - in close alignment with Sales, Product management and Tech.

The first rotation will be assigned to you; the second and third one will be based on the combination of your preference and our offering, keeping in mind that you will need to choose three different areas throughout the traineeship.

Your responsibilities

  • Build a solid understanding of the TS business and our strategic priorities
  • Contribute to day‑to‑day activities within your rotation team
  • Support process reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prioritise your own workflow and deliver high‑quality work on time
  • Organise and support stakeholder interactions such as meetings and events
  • Collaborate across borders within our global TS network

About you
