Your job

As our Data Scientist, you play a key role in realising the ABN AMRO strategy by designing, developing, and bringing AI‑powered solutions into production. You work with modern tooling, large and complex datasets, and cloud-based platforms to create solutions that deliver tangible business value.

You identify opportunities where AI can enhance processes, support strategic decision‑making, and unlock new ways of working. You collaborate with stakeholders to understand problems and translate them into scalable AI products. The departments see the data scientists as the expert on this subject, so that is what you will be for them.

Examples of your responsibilities

• Designing, training, and evaluating advanced machine learning, including generative AI and LLM‑based solution
• Exploring and applying complex datasets, metadata structures, knowledge graphs, and unstructured data
• Developing scalable, production ready, AI products using Azure, Databricks, and Spark
• Translating business questions into AI opportunities and communicating insights clearly
• Driving innovation by experimenting with advanced AI capabilities such as generative AI, agentic systems, vector‑based retrieval, and automated model development
• Collaborating with Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Domain Experts to embed AI into business and IT processes
• Advising stakeholders on responsible AI, data quality, explainability and model governance

Working environment

You will join the Enterprise Enabling Data Domain, a cross‑functional team that delivers Business Insights and AI solutions for a wide range of stakeholders across the I&T organisation and beyond.

We work with cutting‑edge technology and encourage innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement. The atmosphere is informal, open, and focused on learning — mistakes are part of success.

The team consists of around 18 professionals: Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers, working closely together on projects that matter. Collaboration with departments like CDO, COO, P&T, Procurement, CIO's, CISO and bank‑wide programs is part of your daily work.

Your profile

You are curious, analytical, and passionate about AI. You can translate complex questions into practical, high‑impact AI solutions. You understand both the technical side of AI and how to turn it into value for stakeholders.

You enjoy working with others, communicate clearly, and are always eager to explore new AI capabilities. You are excited to share your insights with multiple stakeholders and data specialists!

This is on your resume:

• Proven experience with machine learning, LLMs and generative or agentic AI
• Hands‑on with Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and Spark
• Proficient in Python with experience in modern ML/AI libraries and frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, scikit-learn, and related tooling)
• Experience with MLOps, model deployment, monitoring, and automated pipelines
• Experience with innovation‑driven projects involving emerging AI techniques
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of modern AI/ML research, tooling and best practices
• Fluent in English
