ING Bank is offering a Lending Internship - Financial Institutions within the FI (Financial Institutions) Lending team based in Amsterdam.

The Team

The unit is part of Wholesale Banking (WB) Lending and works exclusively for and with the FI Sector organization. FIL represents an anchor product for cementing client relationships with banks and non-bank financial institutions such as insurance companies, asset managers and funds. The team has global coverage and manages and executes the full value chain of lending to financial institutions, from risk rating, analysis, preparation of credit applications to the tailoring, negotiation and signing of loan documentation. FIL partners with many different stakeholders including Relationship Management (Parent Account Managers), Trade Finance Services, Financial Markets, FI Advisory, Risk, Legal, Corporate Audit Services, and Lending Execution to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the team with core operational and administrative tasks, including taking the responsibility of tracking and following up on approval conditions set by Risk Management and maintaining the Weekly Workload list (including interims, files, and related updates).
  • Support FIL Specialists with credit analysis of counterparties and with industry credit risk analyses.
  • Learn and apply core systems and tools, including consistent use of Vantage applications (credit approval and limit management platform) and NexIA (ESG assessment platform) for ESG reporting.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of your tasks and demonstrating strong attention to detail and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Proactively communicate progress updates, while maintaining good stakeholder relationships, sourcing information when needed, and clearly communicating developments and expectations on delivery.
  • Maintain a clear and user-friendly process handover manual that accurately documents all recurring intern tasks.
  • Contribute to specific team projects if/when needed and if/where appropriate, depending on team priorities and workload.

  • Registered at a university in The Netherlands during the internship.
  • Available from May / June 2026 for a period of 6 months (preferred).
